The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter gives wireless connection capabilities to any wired Ethernet-equipped game console. The Game Adapter can be used in several different ways. If you have an existing home wireless network and a cable or DSL Internet connection, the Game Adapter lets your Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation2 or 3, or GameCube attach to the network so you can get into online games without running wires to the game room. Or, use a pair of Game Adapters to form a "cable-less cable" between two game consoles for head-to-head gaming -- in the same room, or all the way across the house. There is also a special "Wireless LAN Party" mode to connect several consoles at once.

It connected to my network very easily with very little setup required. The Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter arrived when it was supposed to and I connected it to my DirecTV DVR to use with Video On Demand (VOD).
fabulous. so much easier to configure than i ever imagined, it searched for & found my wireless router, asked for my password and wham, i'm up & running for direct tv's on demand.
I was pleased that all I had to do was plug it in. I put in my network password when prompted and was connected both to the network and to the internet. After reading the reviews, I bought this with trepidation because I am using Mac OS and Airport Extreme. The DVR dectected the adapter and asked if I wanted to configure. There was no configuration required other than following the on-screen directions. I wanted to use it to connect DirectTV to the internet. I have a DVR that is less than a year old and Airport that is less than 2 years old.
Big waste of time. I got the wga600n to link up a sling solo to a TV and after two days with 3 hour long calls to tech staff (who were very polite but limitedly helpful) I am giving up. It was not difficult to get the wireless engaged (all lights blinking) but despite knowing it's IP we could not get it recognized on my network or get it to talk to the sling solo much less control it.
Content downloads reasonably quickly. After setup (~10 minutes) I haven't had to mess with it at all. I'm connecting to it with Optimum Online with the double speed package through a G MIMO router. I bought this adapter to use with my HD DVR receiver (HR20, I believe) to get on demand content. The software that comes with it is useless; just plug it in and use the setup on the receiver.
